Far Cry 5 is shaping up to be a massive game. Just a couple of days ago, the title’s creative director, Dan Hay, revealed the game’s estimated campaign length in an interview with GameSpot. It’s not going to be a short game by any stretch, especially for those who enjoy exploring or digging into side activities. For those who would just like to get the game over and done with, however, there is another option available.

Spoilers begin here. Those who want to go in blind should turn back now.

Far Cry 5 opens with the local sheriff and a squad of U.S. Marshals entering New Eden in order to serve their cult leader, Joseph Seed, with a warrant for his arrest and take him into custody. The player’s avatar, referred to as the “Rookie,” is the one who has to actually slap the cuffs onto Seed. Doing so will kick-off the rest of Far Cry 5’s story, but he can also choose not to do so.

Just like in Far Cry 4, seeing this alternate version of events requires just a little bit of patience on the part of the player. Once prompted to handcuff Seed, the player can either do just that or wait. After a couple of tense minutes filled with prods from both Seed and the marshal squad leader, the county sheriff will step in and instruct the rest task force to take their leave. The lead marshal will vehemently protest, but the sheriff just brushes him off by more or less predicting what’s supposed to happen: “You put those cuffs on him, none of us get out of here alive.”

Fans hopes are running high for Far Cry 5, as it’s one of the most anticipated games of 2018, and it’s not hard to see why. Since Far Cry 3, sequels have yet to surpass the third entry, so Far Cry 5 is going to have to wow fans if the series is going to stay healthy moving forward. While there are reasons to worry, the inclusion of fun secrets like this lead one to believe that a visit to Hope County will be worthwhile.

Far Cry 5 is set to release on March 27, 2018 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
