Although this Far Cry game lacks guns, combat more than makes up for it. Players can become even more powerful than they could imagine as prehistoric members of mankind’s ancestors by utilizing Far CryPrimal’s best skills.

8 Extra Health

Health can be leveled up a few times through the skill tree in Far Cry Primal. It’s pretty much a necessity, regardless of difficulty. Everyone could benefit from more health, especially in situations that Far Cry Primal puts the player in. Having an abundance of health will make the player more confident, and allow them to explore their playstyle more.

With the extra health perks, players will keep adding more to their health bar. This abundance of health is a great benefit to players, who will now have an easier time surviving hostile humans and the hostile beasts that roam the lands.

7 Crouch Sprint

Stealth is going to be a major factor in the playstyle for many in Far Cry Primal. Considering there are no guns, some players will have to get up close and personal, and the best way to do that is by staying quiet and staying smart. Crouch Sprint is a perk that allows players to move faster while crouched, thus, they can get to places quicker during stealth.

Moving faster whilst crouched is a great benefit for stealth users, as they will not have to scurry around the map and avoid enemies at a slower pace. The speed at which they can crouch walk will now give them an advantage over walking.

6 Quiet Sprint

In regards to stealth, Quiet Sprint is also a great perk to have. Its benefit relies largely based on the playstyle that each player decides to dedicate themselves to. With Quiet Sprint, players won’t end up making as much noise as they might initially realize. Sprinting and walking may not be silent, but it is noticeably quieter.

It’s always an advantage to play with stealth, especially in Far CryPrimal. Rocks, bombs, bows, and spears can be used effectively in stealth, and considering the player will often be outnumbered constantly, thinning out their numbers is a good idea.

5 Beast Reviving

Taming beast is a powerful mechanic in Far Cry Primal. The kinship between man and beast is explored deeply in Far Cry Primal, and the effects that nature will have on the player are profound. Not only is it nice to be able to pet jaguars, but each beast will mean something to the player. Whether that is as an ally, or as a friend.

However, teaming up with such a beast makes them vulnerable. Players will not want to put these creatures in harm’s way, but luckily with Beast Reviving, players will consume fewer Red Leaves when reviving their loyal companion.

4 Bow Handling

Factoring in the fact that guns are not around in Far Cry Primal’s period, the next best revolution is that of a bow. This great weapon will be a true lifesaver in Far Cry Primal, and for good reason. Bows have good range and good reload speeds and will help players keep the hordes back. However, there’s a notable issue with bows: the weapon sway.

With Bow Handling, the player will have the weapon sway of the bow greatly reduced while aiming. This will make their aim noticeably easier, and hitting targets will never feel more accurate. Players need to take good care of their bow skills, considering they are on a one-man war.

3 Tag Enemies

With countless enemy camps, and many missions leading the player into direct combat, stealth is the most viable option to survive and succeed in claiming territory and victory over enemies. This is made even easier with the Tag Enemies perk.

This perk grants players the ability to tag enemies permanently if the player is aiming at them. The great benefit from this comes from the fact that players will know where their tagged target is at all times, even if they are behind walls or further away than before. Even better, this skill can transfer over to the player’s owl.

2 Heavy Takedown

As players make their way through Far Cry Primal, the game will become harder, and enemies will soon learn the playstyle of their hunter and will adapt to become a greater challenge to the player. This can be seen in the form of Chieftains, enemies that are impossible to takedowns like normal enemies for their great strength and health.

However, investing in the Heavy Takedown perk means that players will have a near infinitely easier time in dealing with these threats. The Heavy Takedown perk will allow players to perform takedowns on these Chieftain enemies, proving that none is a threat to the player with the right skills.

1 Tame Apex Predators

The best beasts in Far Cry Primal are the apex predators by far. These range from sabretooth tigers to brown bears. Both types of the beast can be ridden in Far Cry Primal, meaning that players can look cool, and get to their destination much faster than if they were simply on foot.

With the Tame Apex Predators skill, the very best of the animal kingdom will be under the hand of the player. Together, the enemies of the player will not stand a chance. This does not mean players should neglect the other Beast Master skills, as taming other animals can be a benefit in itself.

Far Cry Primal is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
