We should remember Halo 2, the most popular online game on the original Xbox; we should remember Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 3, the precursor to Xbox 360’s currently popular online game, Modern Warfare 2; remember Unreal Championship, the first online game to be demoed over the Xbox Live service; and remember my personal favorite, MechAssault, because everyone loves giant fighting robots. In respect of the event, I found a dusty paper back pushed towards the back of closet. Inside was my old Xbox console and a number of wires and controllers. Unlike a number of gamers, I didn’t intend to play a classic game one last time, the experience would be much too traumatic. So I set my old Xbox back down, because it is actually very heavy, and whispered my final goodbye.

Whatever soul still contained inside of that thick husk fades away tonight at midnight.

So say your final goodbyes, Ranters! And join me in pushing that console back into a deep corner of your closet. Then turn on you 360, and start playing some Modern Warefare 2, or some Halo 3: ODST. Because Xbox lives on; Xbox Live continues to thrive!  Tonight isn’t a day to look sad into our past, it is a bright day to look proudly into the future.
