Has your daughter been teased at school?
Not by the other kids. They talk about 8-year-old things. But when this goes down in history, I don’t want my daughter known as the little girl who killed the pledge.
She doesn’t object to saying the pledge?
Before the end of second grade, her class put on a patriotic program. She was up there, proud as can be, reciting the pledge, and then they sang “God Bless America.” The child was not raised an atheist.
You’re a Christian?
I’ve taught our daughter about the Lord. We’ve gone to Sunday school. After the ruling she said, “It really doesn’t matter, because I can still whisper the words ‘under God’.”
What do you expect from the court?
Mr. Newdow has his civil rights, and he’s entitled to due process. Just leave this little girl out of it.
